As a guest lecturer for Professor Cynthia Kuo‘s class “Interaction Design for Engineers”, HumanLogic Principal Karen Donoghue delivered a 90-minute custom presentation with Q&A on Designing Interactions @Scale.
Karen’s talk covered her work in advanced device design, IoT UX and platform interaction design at scales ranging from thousands to millions of devices worldwide. Karen also presented a case study combining IoT device design and entrepreneurship explaining the launch of Local Haze, a global air quality monitoring application that she has released for the iPhone that monitors over 26,000 sensors.

“In the fall of 2021 for a Visiting Designer Forum Seminar that I teach at USC, Karen Donoghue delivered a remote guest lecture to my graduate students in design.
Over the course of an hour, Karen gave a lecture about her design career and her experience as an independent product designer for products released worldwide. She answered students’ questions about her work and career and encouraged them to think about their careers as designers.
At my request, Karen prepared and delivered a Design Challenge for the students. This short assignment was to be presented on a smartphone or smartwatch form factor. Over the course of two lectures, Karen and I critiqued the students’ work and delivered constructive feedback.

As a guest lecturer for Professor Robert Checchi’s undergraduate introductory class on User Experience Design in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, HumanLogic Principal Karen Donoghue delivered a guest lecture with Q&A on User Experience Design.

“As a faculty member at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, I teach an undergraduate introductory class on User Experience Design in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The course is open to all majors, and students work in teams to design and develop a mobile application.
In November 2021, I invited Karen Donoghue to deliver a guest lecture for my students to teach students about state-of-the-art practices for planning, designing and building mobile products.
Karen prepared and delivered a professional-quality remote guest lecture with slides and follow-on Q&A with students.
